How the self-cleaning cycle actually works
Four steps, repeated every time your cat visits — with nothing for you to scoop in between.
Step 1 — Set up
Place the box and front step
Set up on a level surface following the AS12 quick-start guide. Fit the supplied liner and front step, add recommended litter and connect power as directed.

Step 2 — Cat detection
Sensors detect approach and entry
The supplier lists seven sets of infrared sensors and three sets of Hall sensors that detect a cat entering or approaching and stop operation. Follow the manual's safety guidance.

Step 3 — Cleaning
A timed sequence separates clumps
After your cat leaves, the supplier describes a one-minute delay, a one-minute pre-cleaning turn, a five-minute clumping wait and three minutes of waste-removal rotation.

Step 4 — Maintenance
Check and empty the waste container
Inspect the waste container regularly. Replace the liner and clean the unit according to its manual. The AS12 supports tool-free disassembly and one-click litter emptying.

How the drawstring liners go in and out
The waste drawer is lined with a heavy-duty drawstring bag, so emptying is a lift-and-tie — never a scoop.

The AS12 includes one roll of 20 bags. Fit a bag in the waste container exactly as described in the manual so it cannot interfere with the cleaning mechanism.

Bags — Replacing
Remove, close and replace
When the waste container needs emptying, stop the unit as directed, remove and close the used bag, then fit a fresh liner. Our 100-count liners have verified fit for the original Smart box only, not the AS12.

Quick-clumping litter keeps sifting clean
World's Best is a corn-based clumping formula for your other litter routines. The AS12 supplier recommends bentonite or mineral litter; do not assume this corn formula is compatible.

Mat
Catch tracked litter before it spreads
The double-layer EVA mat sits in front of the box and traps granules in the honeycomb top layer. When it's full, lift it, shake it and pour what you caught straight back into the box.
